Good FUE - The Right Tool For The Right Patient

While device manufactures are trying to convince physicians as well as customers that they are producing the most state of the art devices to to perform modern day hair transplant surgery, the truth is that not all tools work well on all patients and in all practices. A true state of the art hair transplant has less to do with the tools being used and more to do with those who are using the tools.

Spencer Kobren: Well, let me ask you a question. At the conference, what was the reaction when you were showing these guys what you were able to do with your device? I wasn't there during the live surgeries, so I couldn't see their reaction. I saw the reaction during the presentation. Everyone seemed very impressed. How did they respond when they saw it in use?

Sanusi Umar, MD: It was fantastic. There was a lot of consternation, surprise, on how it works. It has quite unique features that is quite evident when you use.

Spencer Kobren: Animations are one thing, but being used in practice is a totally different situation.

Sanusi Umar, MD:  Exactly. You saw the animation. It was performing just as shown in the animation, just as discussed. The punches, for instance, were given to several attendees. Several attendees bought it. Almost all of them have used or are using other punches. I'm not here to disparage other punches, but [inaudible 00:01:17].

Spencer Kobren: No. Listen. The way the industry works is, if they're going to go to a conference, if they're going to see a new device or a new punch, some sort of a new tool that they think might be useful, they're going to buy it, and they're going to try it, and then they're going to make a decision after they use it in their practice whether or not they either want to continue on with this, use it as an ancillary device, use it as a device just for very specific patients, and just add it to their arsenal. So, it's not about one being better than the next. It's about having different tools in your tool box.

Sanusi Umar, MD: At your disposal. You want your implantarium to have a variety of tools with which you can cater to all patients that walk through your door.
