Bio

Thomas Law was born in Washington, D.C. in 1951 and raised in Bethesda, Maryland. His most avid interests growing up included sports and music, especially baseball and piano. He attended the University of Maryland with a scholarship for baseball and was a varsity letterman for 3 years. He majored in economics and premedical sciences and graduated in 1974 with a bachelor of arts degree.

In 1976 Thomas Law entered the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. and graduated with the M.D. degree in 1980. During medical school he accepted the United States Health Professions Scholarship and entered the Army Reserve. In 1980 he began postgraduate medical training at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii and completed a general surgery internship in 1981. Afterward Dr. Law attended the U.S. Army Aviation Medicine Course at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, which included 15 hours of flight training in the helicopter. Upon successful completion of his solo flight, Dr. Law was awarded flight wings and the designation flight surgeon. He also earned the expert marksman award at the pistol range on his first attempt.

The following 10 years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps provided Dr. Law invaluable experience with challenging medical assignments in a variety of interesting locations including Ausburg, West Germany, Washington, D.C. (Pentagon Health Clinic and Walter Reed Army Medical Center), San Francisco, California (Letterman Army Medical Center), and Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. His assignments included medical director of outpatient clinics and physical exam sections, emergency room physician, and flight surgeon providing preventive medical care to the aviation population and primary care to their family members. In1991 Dr. Law left the U.S. Army Medical Corps, honorably discharged with the rank of major. Soon after, he became interested in the art and science of hair restoration surgery and has dedicated the ensuing years to this specialty in private practice in New York City, New York. His surgical practice, devoted exclusively to hair restoration, is located at 111 East 81st St. (off Park Ave.) in Manhattan. 

Thomas Law, M.D. has developed a world-renowned reputation for artistry in surgical hair restoration. Patients from around the world and throughout the United States have benefitted from Dr. Law’s approach to hair transplantation and over 12 years of experience. His judgement, perfectionist nature, artistic gift, and hands-on approach to surgery have yielded consistent, exceptional results. His patients notice, that unlike most other doctors in the field, Dr. Law devotes his time to one patient a day, and throughout the procedure, he is present placing grafts until the end. As a result of this dedication most of his practice is referral based from happy patients, impressed hairdressers, and other doctors in the cosmetic field who have noted his considerable talent and expertise. 

Dr. Law is board-certified and licensed to practice medicine and surgery in New York, California, and Virginia. He is a member of numerous medical societies including the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, the American Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, and the International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons.
