Mark
D. Baxa, MD
Dr. Baxa is a Board Certified Physician and Surgeon
who has specialized in the Art & Science of
Hair Restoration for over Ten years. He has performed
several thousand Hair transplant surgeries and is
a firm believer in the use of stereoscopic microscopes
for the dissection of Follicular Transplant Units
(FTU’s).
Dr.
Baxa graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
in 1981 with a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences.
As a research assistant in parasitology under Dr.
John J. Janovy at the Cedar Point Biological Research
Station, Dr. Baxa conducted an independent research
project that lead to him discovering a new species
of life, never before cataloged in the Biological
sciences.
Dr.
Baxa attended Medical School at the University of
Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha and graduated in
1986. He was accepted for Internship and Residency
training at Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte,
North Carolina and served as Chief Resident in the
Department of Emergency Medicine.
Dr.
Baxa then entered the United States Air Force and
received his wings after further training in Aerospace
Medicine at Brooks AFB, Texas and graduated in April
of 1990 as a Flight Surgeon. He was later assigned
to Andrews AFB in Washington, D.C. where he had
direct responsibilities for the Joint Chief’s
of Staff, the Vice-President and the President of
the United States. Dr. Baxa participated in support
missions for Air Force One and had clearance &
responsibilities to then President George Bush,
including direct support for South American Presidential
visits.
Dr.
Baxa served in the Persian Gulf War in 1991, he
was stationed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and was the
OIC (Officer-in-Charge) for the only Combat Evac
squadron in the AOR (Area of Responsibility). He
personally logged nineteen night combat missions
into Iraq during ‘Operation Desert Storm’
and later had direct responsibilities for Evac and
treatment of over one hundred thousand Iraqi POW’s.
Dr. Baxa began his practice in Art & Science
of Hair Restorative surgery after leaving the USAF
in 1991. He trained with several leading Physician’s
in the field and has performed several thousand
hair transplants with excellent results utilizing
only state of the art techniques.
All
surgeries are personally performed by Dr. Baxa,
with the assistance of a highly motivated and well
trained nursing staff. He uses stereoscopic microscopy
for dissection of follicular Transplant units and
has in place a quality assurance program to insure
that the patient receives only the very best result.
Dr.
Baxa is certified by the American Board of Hair
Restoration Surgery, as where as double boarded
in Emergency Medicine & Laser Surgery. He provides
the patient with several options for pre-operative
anesthesia including; inhalation Nitrous Oxide,
oral ‘Twilight Sleep’, or intravenous
conscious sedation. Dr. Baxa spends considerable
time with each patient to insure that the operative
plan is indeed in the patient’s best interest.
It
is Dr. Baxa’s goal that a realistic expectation
of hair restoration be performed to achieve only
the most natural results, restoring not only your
hair, but also your confidence.
Dr.
Baxa has appeared on the PBS program ‘Healthwise’
as an expert in the field of Hair Restoration. He
is a member of the International Society of Hair
Restoration Surgeons (ISHRS), American Society of
Hair Restoration Surgeons (ASHRS), International
Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons (IAHRS), Diplomate
of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgeons
(ABHRS), American Society of Laser Medicine &
Surgery (ASLMS), Diplomate of the American Board
