Dr.
Shapiro is recognized by his peers as a leading expert
in the field of Hair Transplant Surgery. He was the
first physician to be asked do a live surgery demonstrating
the technique of follicular unit grafting for his peers
(Done at the Annual ISHRS conference in Las Vegas 1995).
Since that time he has been asked to lecture, run workshops,
and perform live surgical demonstrations at more than
twenty five major international and national conference
in the past 6 years. Physicians from around the world
visit Dr Shapiro's Clinic, not only to learn his technique,
but also as patients to have the procedure performed
on themselves.
Dr. Shapiro is the founder and director of The Shapiro
Medical Group in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His clinic
specializes in Follicular Unit Tranplantaion and Hairline
design. He has published numerous articles on these
specific subjects. Known for his hands on technical
ability, Dr Shapiro is one of a select group of physicians
regularly honored with invitations to demonstrate his
technique at major conferences around the world .
Dr. Shapiro is Board Certified in Internal Medicine,
Emergency Medicine. He was among the first to pass the
boards in the newly created American Board of Hair Restoration.
In 1999 was elected by his peers to be on the Board
of Governors to the International Society of Hair Restoration
Surgery (ISHRS). In 2000 he was also elected to the
Board of Governors for the American Society of Hair
Restoration Surgery ASHRS) a branch of the American
Academy o Cosmetic Surgery. In 2000 he received the
"Archimedes" award for excellence in hair
restoration from the Italian Society of Hair Restoration
Surgery. He has currently been asked to co-edit the
next edition one of the major textbooks used in hair
restoration surgery " Hair Tranplantation".
In addition to these academic and surgical accomplishments
Dr Shapiro is known for being a caring physician and
patient advocate with the desire to ensure quality care
for patients in the field of hair restoration. A search
of the internet chat boards for comments from patients
about their personal experience with Dr Shapiro quickly
confirms this.
