Dr.
Tessler received his medical degree from the University
of Michigan in 1967. He completed a surgical internship
at Detroit's Harper Hospital and interrupted a surgical
residency there to serve in the U.S. Army as an orthopedic
surgeon during the Vietnam war in 1969 and 1970.
He
completed his Dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital
in Detroit in 1974.
Dr.
Tessler has performed hair transplant surgery since
1974 and has been actively involved in the evolution
of the specialty to its current state-of-the-art, utilizing
follicular unit technology.
Since
1991, Dr. Tessler has devoted his practice exclusively
to hair transplant surgery.
He
has published in hair transplant and plastic surgery
text books and professional journals. As an acknowledged
expert he has frequently been interviewed on local and
national TV and in the print media regarding hair loss
and hair transplantation.

referral guide compiled by surveying the opinions of
5000 physicians has named Dr. Tessler continuously since
1996 - the only physician in Michigan to receive this
designation in the hair transplant field.
