BOARD
CERTIFIED IN HAIR RESTORATION SURGERY
I was raised in Arlington, Massachusetts, where I graduated
from Arlington High School. I earned my bachelor's degree
in Zoology and a minor in Psychology from the University
of New Hampshire. After earning my medical degree from
the University of New England College of Osteopathic
Medicine in Biddeford, Maine, I undertook an internship
at the Metropolitan General Hospital followed by a residency
at Parkview Hospital. I subsequently gained my board
certification.
I
first learned the art of hair transplantation in 1986
when I began observing Dr. C. P. Chambers, who at that
time maintained one of the largest hair restoration
practices in the world. I trained under Dr. Chambers
in a preceptorship-like fashion for nearly two years,
training in many offices around the U.S. and participating
in hundreds of surgeries. In 1990, I opened my first
office in Providence, Rhode Island, as well as two affiliate
offices in Ft. Myers, Florida and Burlington, Massachusetts.
As my practice grew, I eventually moved from Providence
to a larger surgical facility in Cranston, Rhode Island
and from Burlington to a larger surgical facility in
Newton Centre, Massachusetts.
Today,
I lecture to medical and non-medical groups around the
world about the latest techniques in hair transplantation
and devote my practice exclusively to hair restoration
surgery.
I
am proud to inform you that I was elected President
of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery
(ISHRS). The ISHRS, whose membership is comprised of
over 900 licensed, experienced physicians from around
the world, is the world's most prestigious and authoritative
organization in the field of surgical hair restoration.
This organization encourages the free interchange of
ideas, knowledge and experience among its members in
order to maintain the highest possible level of expertise
and professional excellence. I have been a part of the
ISHRS since its inception in 1993 and I am focusing
my efforts on solidifying the ethical standards of the
society as well as its members and educating the public
on issues such as how to choose the most qualified hair
restoration surgeon in this rapidly growing field.
I
was honored in June of 1997 to have been named a Fellow
of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, which is
the largest organization of surgeons performing cosmetic
surgery in this nation.
